CAVO Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 26, 2026
CAVO is a vehicle discovery application operated by Joshua Korori (“CAVO,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information CAVO collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
CAVO is currently intended for users in the United States.
1. Information you choose to let us collect
CAVO offers optional anonymous usage analytics.
When you first use the app, you may choose whether to allow anonymous analytics. If you do not allow analytics, the app remains fully functional and your on-device recommendations will continue to work.
If you allow analytics, CAVO may collect information about how you interact with the app, including:
- vehicle listings shown to you
- listings you open
- time spent viewing listings
- photos you view
- listings you save or unsave
- searches you submit
- filters you apply
- taps to call a dealer, visit a dealer website, or obtain directions
CAVO does not send the raw text of your search query to our analytics system. When possible, the app may record structured vehicle information recognized from a search, such as a make, model, or year.
2. Anonymous installation identifier
If analytics is enabled, CAVO uses a randomly generated installation identifier.
This identifier:
- is generated on your device
- is not derived from your hardware
- is not an advertising identifier
- is not your name, email address, or phone number
- is not currently connected to a CAVO account because CAVO does not currently offer user accounts
A separate random session identifier may also be used to group activity occurring during the same usage session.
3. Information stored only on your device
CAVO stores certain information locally to provide app features.
Saved vehicles. CAVO stores the identifiers of listings you save so your Saved section persists between launches.
Recent searches. Recently submitted searches are stored locally and can be cleared from the Search screen.
Recommendation profile. CAVO maintains a compact on-device preference profile used to personalize your For You feed. It may contain derived preferences relating to vehicle makes, models, trims, body styles, condition, drivetrain, transmission, approximate price range, year, and mileage.
The recommendation profile does not contain complete vehicle listings, listing photos, dealer contact information, or raw vehicle-data-provider responses. It can be erased using Reset recommendations in Privacy & data.
Appearance preference. Your System, Light, or Dark appearance setting is stored locally.
4. Where anonymous analytics are stored
When anonymous analytics are enabled, behavior events are transmitted to CAVO’s backend, which is hosted using Supabase.
These records may include:
- your anonymous installation identifier
- a session identifier
- the type of interaction
- the relevant CAVO listing identifier
- where in the app the interaction occurred
- limited structured event information
- a timestamp
CAVO does not currently use this analytics system to collect your name, email address, telephone number, contacts, advertising identifier, precise device identifier, or precise location.
5. Retention
CAVO retains anonymous behavior-event data for up to 12 months, after which it is scheduled for automatic deletion.
Pending analytics events may temporarily remain on your device until successfully transmitted. If you disable analytics, pending events that have not yet been sent are cleared.
6. Your analytics choices
You can change your analytics preference at any time from Profile → Privacy & data.
If you disable analytics:
- CAVO stops creating and transmitting new analytics events
- pending unsent analytics events are cleared
- your Saved vehicles, recommendation profile, recent searches, and appearance settings remain intact
Turning analytics off does not automatically erase analytics events that were previously sent.
You can separately choose Delete analytics data. This deletes server-side behavior events associated with your current anonymous installation identifier, clears pending analytics events, and generates a new anonymous installation identifier.
7. Vehicle listings and photos
Vehicle listings may contain information supplied by dealers or other vehicle-data sources.
Listing photos may be loaded directly from dealer websites, content-delivery networks, or other image hosts. When your device requests those images, the image host may receive ordinary internet request information such as your IP address, browser or device-network information, and the image being requested.
CAVO does not control the privacy practices of those third-party hosts.
8. Dealer websites, phone calls, maps, and sharing
When you choose to:
- call a dealer
- open a dealer website
- request directions
- share a vehicle listing
CAVO hands the requested information to your device or to the relevant third-party service.
For example, visiting a dealer website may allow that website to use its own cookies or tracking technologies under its own privacy policy.
CAVO does not collect information about who receives a listing you share or which app you use to share it.
9. Service providers
CAVO uses third-party service providers to operate portions of the service, including Supabase for backend hosting and database infrastructure.
These providers may process limited technical information necessary to provide their services, such as IP addresses and request metadata.
We may add or replace service providers as CAVO develops. This Privacy Policy will be updated if our data practices materially change.
10. No advertising tracking
CAVO currently does not:
- sell personal information
- use advertising identifiers
- track users across unrelated apps or websites for advertising
- use third-party advertising networks
- use third-party behavioral advertising SDKs
CAVO does not currently request Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission because CAVO does not engage in cross-app tracking.
11. Children
CAVO is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to CAVO, contact us so we can review the matter.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information handled by CAVO.
No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as CAVO changes.
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on our website.
